Serious people talk seriously: Biological immortality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8YpnxFgt_Y Life after death: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNGT0uYPHAo Immortals in fiction: Sean Connery in a suspender speedo (guess the movie): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVtx4n3G5lY Ashildr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NvWDiDz8Cc Jack Harkness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj8UCFHLWhQ Not immortal, but same ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2jrJ9DlBns Repetitious immortality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pk3cSb6QN8 Also not immortal, but living life to the fullest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuHkE1eU2AY 1. Are you afraid of death? Are you afraid of eternity? 2. How often do you contemplate your mortality? How do you feel about it? 3. When did you find out about death? How did it affect you? 4. How long would you like to live? What is the ideal life expectancy? 5. What would you do with centuries of (hopefully healthy) life? Do you think you would accomplish everything you want, or would there always be another thing to do? 6. Is it more reasonable to prolong the life of the body, which houses consciousness, or find ways to separate consciousness from the body so it can be given another "home"? 7. Most immortal characters in literature/film are not exactly admirable. Is this an unconscious recognition that immortality is unnatural and therefore we should not be comfortable with it, or is it just catchy storytelling? 8. What do you imagine the consequences to be for a world where few people die? 9. If you were offered an immortal life, with a youthful and healthy body, would you accept it?
